Dog Walk, Sunday, April 26th., 2008

The Sweetpea.For.Animals dog walk is to raise funds toward caring for animals that we have for adoption and for building a no-kill animal shelter. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $7000 on this dog walk. If each walker can get 10 people to pledge $10 each, we will easily achieve this goal.

We have a 3-mile circuit of Rutland State Park -- with marshalls to make sure you don't get lost -- and a 1-mile walk for those who prefer to participate in a less strenuous way! If you would be interested in an even more energetic walk (4 miles, with a mix of rough and more even ground), please contact Dick Clark, to let us know your opinion!

Sign In is at 10 a.m. -- we may schedule an earlier sign in for those interested in a 4 mile walk.
- The 3 mile walk starts at 11:15 a.m.
- The 1 mile walk starts at 12 Noon.
Come along early, to meet old friends, make new friends, get breakfast, and scour the stalls for bargains!

Please download our pledge sheet to get started (don't forget to sign the back). We will award a free T-shirt to anyone who raises $100 or more in pledges, and a dog bandana to anyone who raises $75 0r more. Believe me -- these are cool!

*** DOG-WALK PARTICIPATION INSTRUCTIONS ***

*** DIRECTIONS TO THE DOG-WALK MEETING POINT ***:

The dog walk is not just a walk, but a party for dog-lovers! Each year, we have vendor tables and a bake sale booth. We have music and a picnic after the walk, with a grill and nice things for the kiddies. We have a raffle with excellent prizes generously donated by local citizens and merchants.

Trophies and prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

Biggest dog Walker with the most sponsors
Walker who has traveled the farthest to be with us.

Last year, almost $3,800 was raised towards the SweetPea Shelter Fund, with additional donations by local businesses. This year, we want to double that. Come, walk, and groove with us at the dogwalk - rain or shine!

SWEETPEA F.O.R. ANIMALS Inc. of Rutland MA is a non-profit, animal welfare organization with a no-kill policy dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of stray, abandoned and surrendered companion animals in central Massachusetts and beyond. There is no permanent shelter facility so all animals currently reside with the animal control officer, in foster homes or with the animal care program at Devereux School in Rutland .

SweetPea is not affiliated with any other animal welfare organization and does not receive any government funding. The revenue comes from donations, adoption and surrender fees, grants, and fundraising events like the dog walk.

Many, many thanks to all who donated, volunteered and participated towards making this fundraiser a success in 2007. We look forward to seeing you again this year!
