Special Needs Cats

Arthur - Needs fostering for a year

Please read up on FIV+ cats. They do not have to be kept segregated if they are cat friendly. FIV is mainly spread (in neutered cats) thru bite wounds/aggressive fighting. The risk of another cat becoming infected is extremely low (about 1-2%).

Arthur - needs urgent foster

Arthur needs a home while his owner is away on miltary service for a year.

From Arthur's owner:
I have an FIV+ cat that needs a home. I rescued him through an internet animal organization about 7 years ago. He is healthy and happy, and shows no signs of the disease except that his canines have been removed. He is a very friendly cat. He will walk up to total strangers and roll over to be pet. He is a lap cat and would probably do well in outreach programs to seniors. I say that because he is good with travel; I got him in California, and he traveled across country with me. He purrs in an instance. He tries to be friends with other cats, will even approach them in a submissive way. With dogs, he gets used to them, though it takes a while for them to establish a relationship.

I am leaving the country to support our troops in Baghdad as a chef. I would be happy to help with expenses to anyone who can possibly foster Arthur for the year (approximately) I'll be away. If you can help, please contact Diane Cook, email: morelater@verizon.net

Sweetpea For Animals is always looking for good homes to adopt our special friends. We ask that people interested in adopting a Sweetpea pet call Dick Clark (contact details below) to set up an appointment to meet with the pet and to file an application.

Our adoption fees are $225 for dogs and $110 for cats.

All pets are up to date on shots unless they have only just arrived at our shelter.

All fees go back into rescuing, boarding, spaying and neutering, and providing medical care for the many abandoned and lost animals that we deal with each year.

Please remember that bringing a new pet into your home can be a big transition and must be thought out carefully. ALL animals require understanding and adjustment after a stay in rescue. Even a totally housetrained animal can have an occasional "accident" as they try to understand the rules of their new home and learn to communicate that they need to go out, in a different way from their previous home.

About Sweetpea
